Art and architecture create a space in which an aesthetic response arises in the viewer or participant, whether intended or not. This reaction is dependent on an interaction between the features of the artwork or structure, the space and the individual. Kant (1998) argues that our aesthetic understanding is dependent on an intuitive sense of form. These photographs are an intimate exploration of the spaces formed around this building. I am fascinated by how materiality, in particular concrete, can create an atmosphere or arouse a response in the individual.
